Just under a month ago (I know I’ve been really bad with the blog lately) I was privileged to be a part of a stunning colab organised by Cape Town photographer, Lindie Meyer. Having worked with Lindie previously on a colab shoot for Zana I didn’t think twice about it when she asked me to do the food styling for a bridal concept shoot we all fittingly dubbed “black & Blush”.
The idea was to shoot two contrasting bridal personalities – from fashion and flowers to cakes and eats. Each facet of the shoot had a passionate professional (or aspiring enthusiast like myself) in the respective departments responsible for adding their expertise to bring the concept to life.
Being used to being behind the camera, styling food in an isolated environment where it’s just myself and all the time in the world, this was a great learning curve for me! Because I know what I’m working with, how to move things around in a scene when I see it through the lens, not having that control was daunting. It kind of felt like styling in the dark, but it was a good exercise for me, handing over control like that.
